Hello, World!

For my first blog post, I want to dive into why I’m creating this internal forum.
Primarily, I’ve been inspired by the ever growing data-leaks across the world to ensure that this year I take the necessary steps to decrease my digital footprint, and increase the amount of security steps needed to hold as much control over my data as I can.
Secondly, I’m eager to look back on these posts in the future to compare the levels of digital privacy I find myself encapsulated in.

Currently, I daily use three devices:

  • Google Pixel 10 Pro, running Android 16

  • Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5, running Arch Linux, with KDE Plasma 6.6

  • My desktop, running the following specs

    • ASRock B760M-C R2.0

    • GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, 8GB

    • 13th Gen Intel(R) i7-13700F, 2100Mhz, 16 Cores, LGA1700

    • TeamGroup Vulcan DDR5, 16GB, 6000MT/s

    • MSI Spatium M450 2TB SSD M.2, 3000MB/s Read/Write

    • 600 Watt Standard Gold PSU

As for social media, I have deleted my accounts for Twitter and TikTok, and currently have Facebook and Reddit uninstalled on my cell phone. The only true social media that I have installed is Instagram.

While last year I did make impressive leaps in my privacy, this year I want to improve that even further.
Last year, I decreased the “following” section of my Instagram profile from over 1,400 accounts to ~170 accounts. Additionally, I created a spam email address, and now my primary inbox is largely empty and receives only necessary communications.

Earlier this year, I took a greater leap, replacing Windows 11 on my Ideapad with Arch Linux, and making physical backups of my desktop’s important files.

The remainder of 2026, I’m setting the following goals for myself:

  • Install GrapheneOS on my Google Pixel 10 Pro

  • Set up a NAS Server, or a similar file-storage environment, to host on my local network

  • De-Google, relocate all of my Google Photos and Google Drive files to the NAS/file server

  • Set up and integrate a system involving a locally hosted VPN, and an ability to remotely access my desktop, and NAS/file server from my Ideapad, so I can essentially utilize my 1GB/s download speed from any location
